Men's shorts in India break down into three buckets: gym shorts that are too short for everyday, bermudas that are too long to look modern, and lounge shorts that read as sleepwear the moment you step outside. This collection is what fits between those — cotton shorts cut at mid-thigh, tailored at the waist, structured enough to wear with a polo and slides for a sit-down meal, soft enough to wear at home with a tee and bare feet.
Every pair is pure cotton, built for Indian summers. Breathable, fast-drying, and pre-washed so the shrinkage is already done before you receive it. Sizes S to 6XL, with the same separate-pattern logic across the range so the rise, leg, and waist proportions hold whether you're at M or 4XL. Scroll the grid for the current line. Below, a guide on inseam length, fabric weight, what to pair them with, and which fit suits which occasion.
Inseam length — the single most important spec
Inseam is the seam from crotch to hem, measured in inches. It determines whether the short reads as athletic, casual, or smart-casual. Our shorts run two inseam ranges:
- 5-6 inch — lounge / sport. Hits above the knee. Best for at-home, gym, beach, runs, or anywhere you want maximum airflow.
- 7-8 inch — casual / smart-casual. Hits at or just above the knee. Worn out: coffee, dinners, weekend brunches, travel.
Pick by the occasion you'll wear them in most. If you're between two pairs and unsure, the 7-8 inch gives you more outfit flexibility.
Fabric — why pure cotton, not blends
Cotton in 180-220 GSM is our default for shorts. Polyester blends are cheaper to manufacture, drape better off the rack, and feel synthetic against the skin in heat. Which is most of India, most of the year. We've stuck with cotton because every customer who's worn a polyester short in 35°C humidity knows the trade-off isn't worth it.
The downside of cotton is creasing. We mitigate it with a slightly heavier weave (220 GSM) on most of the line, which holds shape better than a 160 GSM lounge cotton without crossing into chino stiffness.
Sizing — waistband math
Our waistband sizes by inches, not pant size. A "32" on our chart means the waistband stretches comfortably from 31 to 33. Most pairs are elasticated at the back with a flat front, which gives the structure of a tailored short with the comfort of an elastic waist. If you're between sizes, size down. The elastic gives more than it takes.
For 4XL-6XL, the waistband is fully elasticated and the rise is adjusted upward to stop the short from sliding under a fuller torso. This is the same pattern logic that applies across our plus-size line: it isn't a wider version of the M, it's a redrawn block.
Styling — three pairings that work
Casual: cotton shorts, plain tee, sneakers. The default summer outfit, hard to mess up.
Smart-casual: cotton shorts (7-8 inch), linen shirt, leather sandals. Works for resort wear, dinners, weekend events.
Sport: cotton shorts (5-6 inch), dri-fit tee, running shoes. Cotton breathes harder than polyester for low-intensity workouts; switch to synthetic for cardio.
What doesn't work: cotton shorts under a blazer, with formal leather shoes, or with calf-high socks. The casualness of the fabric reads "errand," not "office."
Care that keeps the cut
Pre-washed cotton has done most of its shrinking before it ships, but heat speeds the rest. Cold-wash, mild detergent, no bleach. Dryer on low only. The waistband elastic is what fails first on most shorts. Keep it out of high heat and direct sun on the line, and it'll outlast the fabric.
When to buy cotton vs. when to buy synthetic
Cotton: everyday, lounge, smart-casual, travel, weekend wear, sleepwear.
Synthetic: gym, running, sweat-heavy activity, swimwear.
We don't run synthetic shorts on this site. There are better dedicated activewear brands for that. Our line is specifically the cotton everyday short, done well, in every size.
Frequently asked questions
What inseam should I pick, 5-inch or 8-inch?
5-6 inch for lounge/sport, 7-8 inch for casual/smart-casual. If you are unsure, the 7-8 inch is more versatile.
Will pure cotton shorts shrink after washing?
Pre-shrunk before shipping, so most shrinkage is done. Cold-wash, mild detergent, low heat dryer keeps the fit consistent.
Is the waistband elastic or button-zip?
Most are flat-front with elastic-back. Specific products list waistband type on the page.
Do these work for the gym?
Yes for low-intensity workouts. For cardio, synthetic is better and we do not carry it.
Sizing for 4XL-6XL?
Separately patterned with full elastic waistband and adjusted rise. Same proportions hold as smaller sizes.
